How Contractors Should Check Public Liability Limits
Contractors should compare public liability limits against the contracts and sites they actually work on. A smaller domestic job may ask for a lower limit, while councils, commercial landlords, principal contractors, facilities managers and larger construction sites may request higher evidence before work starts.
The certificate should also match the insured name, trade description, policy dates and activity being carried out. A contractor working at height, using heat, employing labour or using subcontractors should check that the policy wording supports those activities rather than relying only on the headline liability limit.
